In 2004 the world watched as the survivors of the catastrophic crash of Oceanic Flight 815 came together on a seemingly deserted island in the middle of the pacific. Through the first long weeks of this experience the survivors overcame their differences, pasts and ethnicity and they focused on the needs of the present. Finding the skills within themselves that they needed to survive these men and women went back to a level of technological simplicity they thought they would never see. Everyday of their lives was a constant struggle against death and a sandy grave as they kept their eyes on the horizon in search of rescue. People all over the world laughed as these men and women laughed, cried as they cried and went through weeks of torment with these survivors as they became caught up in the phenomenon that is Lost.
In short order Lost became one of the best shows to ever hit television with its phenomenal writers, gifted set designers, a plot that was impossible to look away from and actors who actually cared about the show. Lost wasted no time in gathering a strong core of faithful followers and in casting off the weak minds that could not keep up with the twists and turns of the show.
As the survivors recuperated from their crash they found that their nightmare was just beginning. Beset on all sides from enemies both in the clear and in the shadows these brave men and women fought for their lives and eventually, six of them made it off the island alive. But they found to their dismay, that it still wasn’t over and by the end of the fifth season, all of the castaways were once more on the island.
When they got back to the island they found themselves not only back in the midst of danger and mystery, but divided by time, literally. While some castaways were sent back in time to the 1970’s, others remained in their own time. Surviving gun fights, car-bombs the survivors stranded in the 70’s found themselves becoming a part of the history of the island that they had already known about. After detonating a thermo-nuclear device in the final moments of the season finale their fate has been left hanging on a cliff.
Meanwhile, back in the current century a satanic figure clothed as a mortal man led the others to the home of the angelic Jacob, a healer seen in flashbacks throughout the episode helping the main characters at key moments in their lives. The “Man in Black” persuaded one of the other main characters into stabbing, and killing Jacob, much in the same way the devil used mortals to murder Jesus in the New Testament, his last words being “They’re coming,”.
Since May 13th of last year the fate of everyone on the island has been cast into doubt and now, on February 2nd, all the questions will be answered, all the mysteries will be unraveled and all the loose ends will be tied up. So tune in at 7:00 tonight on channel 11 for the beginning of the end of one of the most amazing television experiences in history.
