Cooper Street has expanded in the last couple of years, becoming home to many new restaurants and shops. Among the endless line of stores and shopping centers, one stands out. Right past the intersection of Cooper and Green Oaks, SmashBurger, has been the new hangout spot for many college and high school students. With an extensive menu of everything from massive burgers to sweet potato fries to fried pickles, SmashBurger can satisfy almost any taste.

The all stars of the menu are the SmashBurger, SmashChicken, and SmashFries. The Classic SmashBurger consists of a huge burger with cheese, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, onion, pickles, and the special smash sauce on the egg bun. For anyone craving a little flavor to their burger, they also offer an All-American, BBQ Bacon and Cheese, Spicy Baja, Mushroom Swiss, and the Create Your Own SmashBurger. There are just as many variations of the SmashChicken as the burger, including such things as the Avocado Club SmashChicken, which has fresh avocados. In my personal opinion the BBQ Ranch SmashChicken was the best sandwich on the menu. It has several slices of bacon and a perfect mixture of BBQ and Ranch sauces.

The SmashSides are a collection of things such as SmashFries (a generous side of fries covered with rosemary, olive oil, and garlic), regular shoestring cut French Fries, Beefy Chili, Sweet Potato SmashFries (the best side dish when dipped in ranch or ketchup), Fried Pickles, Haystack Onions, and Veggie Frites (flash fried asparagus spears, carrot spears, and green beans). Everything is a hit, but the SmashFries, both regular and sweet potato, and the Fried Pickles are the big stand outs.

Since Smashburger prides itself on its’ classic take on a burger joint, hot dogs were a given. The chain offers three different kinds of hot dogs; Classic Dog, Chicago Dog, and Chili Cheese Dog. And what’s dinner without ice cream milkshakes for desert? Haagen Dazs milkshakes in strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla, and any kind of float you can make from the fountain drinks are all served in a frosted mug to complete any meal.

With a classic and relaxed enviroment, SmashBurger is a great hangout place to grab a burger and relax.  Perfect for any student to grab a burger or milkshake and sit outside to relax.
